There are those who think that there isn’t a gap between social media and real life. But there is, especially when you use social media as a way to hide from what is going on in real life. Some will use the different social media as a way to hide from what is going on in real life or to make life seem it is something that it really isn’t. This should not be the case. If used correctly, social media can really help a company or businesses grow. Or if used for those who are a musical group or comedian it can keep their fans posted on when and where they will be.
When used properly, social media can be helpful. But many people do not know how to make it something that can be a good thing; instead they make the gap even larger than it already is. When something is used for something other than its intended use, it will cause more and more problems and put more space between real life and the application. For some, it is a way to make life kind of go away for a little bit, you can live someone else life. This would allow you to find someone else, who has something better than what you have going on in your life, to live a life, that doesn’t belong to you.
When people try to chase something they don’t have they will continue to chase. They will never be happy with what they have, which is what continues to make the gap between social media and real life continue to grow. When this happens it is hard to know where to begin to start to close the gap. When the gap gets too big, it makes it hard for people to start to close the gap. This only makes things even worse for some people. Then they won’t deal with life at all.
People actually spent time with other people face to face before there was so much social media. It made the time spent with people more valuable and you looked forward to it. These days with social media people have to continually be updating what is going on with social media instead of doing it person to person. Social media can wait. There are many people who may not care what some of the small things in life are in your life. Those that really care are those who are closest to you and not necessarily on any of the social media sites.
The idea behind social media was to just keep people connected; especially those who are not close enough to do it in person. Social media can be defined as many different things. It may be that online sites will eventually bring people to social media sites to continue talking. The social media has been known to have negative effects on many relationships, even though there are positive effects. For those who are school aged, it can be a bigger problem than it is really worth.
If youth have become a part of one of the many social media sites it is important for parents to play a role in this and keep an eye on what is going on. This would be one of the biggest groups that can have a really large gap between social media and real life. It is a good place for them to both hide behind a computer and be mean, where they wouldn’t do it face to face. For some they will only be behind the computer being mean or thoughtless towards others.
When people haven’t dealt with real life from an early age, then social media helps them to be able to continue to do that in a way that is not good. There needs to be conversations that take place in families and at school about how social media can either help and/or hurt people and how to be responsible with it. When it isn’t discussed there will be responsibility issues, which cause the problem for the gap between social media and real life.
The gap continues to grow in general between social media and real life. The longer this continues, it will only continue to get worse when people are not willing to deal with the real issue(s) in real life. This needs to change. We wonder why there is a gap in relationships. It is because of the gap between social media and real life. When we realize this is the case and are willing to do something about, things can start to change when it comes to the gap between social media and real life.
